US Cuts Off Polish Official Over Criticism of Trump
Earlier this week, Czarzasty criticized Trump’s tariff policies and his plan to annex Greenland, and also condemned the president for downplaying NATO allies’ contributions during the war in Afghanistan. He described Trump’s proposed global Board of Peace as “illusory” and accused him of undermining the EU, UN, and NATO. **“I will not support President Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize because he doesn’t deserve it,”** Czarzasty said.
US Ambassador to Poland Tom Rose, in a post on X, called Czarzasty’s comments “outrageous and unprovoked insults” that damaged bilateral ties. **“Effective immediately, we will have no further dealings, contacts, or communications with Marshal of the Sejm Czarzasty,”** Rose wrote.
Czarzasty rejected any wrongdoing, stating he has always respected the US as a key Polish partner and said he would not change his position on issues he considers fundamental for the Polish people.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk weighed in, emphasizing that allies should “respect, not lecture, each other.”
